POP-UP PASTA CLASS [NORTH END, BOSTON]
Details
Handmade pasta, on a private rooftop terrace in the North End — Boston's Little Italy. A hands-on class two decades in the making, taught the way it was taught to me.
Ciao, I'm Danielle. I learned to make pasta studying culinary arts and wine in Florence, and for twenty years I've kept learning — corner by corner across Italy and its islands, in the kitchens of adopted nonnas and family trattorias. La Terrazza is where I bring all of that home: my own rooftop and organic garden, looking out at the harbor and the city skyline. Not a restaurant — my table, for six at a time.
How the afternoon unfolds
- Aperitivo & olive oil tasting — we start the Italian way, good oil to taste and treats from the neighborhood.
- Hands in the dough — you'll make two pastas from scratch, by hand: pillowy potato gnocchi alla Sorrentina, the taste of my father's Campania, and malloreddus — tiny ridged semolina shells, my own Sardegna.
- Garden to table — we cook what's fresh and sit down together to eat what you made, the skyline and the sea right in front of us.
- Dolci & caffè — we finish with cannoli, the North End's own tradition, and espresso brewed the old way in my nonna's moka.
- The take-home — you'll leave with a box of your own malloreddus, and a little of the slow life to keep.
Small by design — six seats at one table, about three hours together. Ages 12 and up.
